This image is absolutely dreamy... a vintage pink and white umbrella against a sunny aqua sky. If I close my eyes I can almost picture myself there.:) This lovely image is the work of Vicki Dvorak. All of her images have such a sweet hue, and a fantastic vintage feel and warmth to them. You can see her other photographs on her etsy site, and read more about her on her blog.
Wishing you all a warm, sunny weekend with aqua blue skies.
Party theme idea - vintage bubblegum
29 July 2010
The inspiration for this party theme was this adorable shirt I found at the online boutique the Clothing Line. I took a classic mix of pink and green, but found greens that were more minty in color which gave this collection a great vintage feel. There is nothing like taking a classic and putting a spin on it.

Sweets... and their boutiques
28 July 2010
We love Hey Cupcake. Hey Cupcake specializes in... well, cupcakes. They are local to Austin, Texas, and their shops are in these bullets that you can see around town... all sporting a giant cupcake on the top. So, if you are local, and are looking for great cupcakes for your next party try Hey Cupcake! Our favorite is the Michael Jackson (chocolate cupcake with cream cheese frosting-YUM!)

School days...
26 July 2010
It is hard to believe that school begins very soon for all of our little ones. I have to say that I am relived that my little ones are still at the Mother's Day Out age, and we are not starting "big kids school" yet. Whew... what an emotional day that will be. Above is a look I love for school this year! I included the alphabet flash cards, because I just love the idea of giving an educational game or new book on their first day back to school... something to help them get excited to learn, and if you write a little note in the front cover it can serve as a sweet keepsake one day as well.
The goods:
Backpack - potter barn kids
Alphabet flash cards - Paper Source
Bag Tag - Jayme Marie Designs
Monkey lunch box - Skip Hop

This baseball party that Annette Warnick put together for her sons 4th birthday party has some really fun decoration ideas. I love the colors, the little flags, and the use of peanuts for decor... very clever! See more of the party here!

Trends in design will eventually effect all areas of design, from fashion to interiors to party and paper. So, when trying to think of a fun color palette for your next party take a look at the runway or some interior design magazines. Inspiration can be found everywhere!

Gift Giving
15 July 2010
Our children may have 18 birthday parties before they leave home, but they will be the guests to MANY birthday parties in these younger years. So, now the challenge, what to buy the birthday child? It seems now-a-days kids have SO many toys, so it can be difficult finding something that they may not already have. I get a huge thrill in finding unique gifts and then wrapping them in a special way. One idea to help you get started on your gift shopping is to maybe start with the theme and/or colors of the child's party. I love online stores such as Moolka. They carry European toys, which I love because they are made with materials like wood and fabric versus all the plastic we see here in the US, and the shop is fabulous because you can search for toys by theme, color, age, etc. It makes gift shopping so easy.
Great wrapping with a great gift goes hand in hand. I just love these bunting flags for gift wrapping that I found at French Toast Friday.... they go perfectly with my carnival themed gifts above.

Summer Sweets
02 July 2010
I just love summer... summer parties, and summer sweets. I love the bright colors, the pool parties... everything! I tried so hard to plan it so my kiddos would be born in the summer, but despite my efforts I have a February baby and an October baby (so, not even close!). I guess I'll have to find another excuse to have a summer soiree. :)
